Mountain Mama's Tavern & Sports Bar

"First of all, my husband and I LOVE a great sports bar and tavern. It has to have great TVs, great pub food and great local beers. When we travel (and we travel a lot), we go for the sports bars over fine dining. Last night , in Morgantown, WV, we found Mountain Mama's. Thanks to the evening clerk at Euro Suites, we walked into MM and sat at the bar. It was crowded (always a good sign), people were laughing, and in a college town (WVU), college football was on all the TVs (too many TVs to count). We sat at the bar next to a very quiet gentleman. Turns out he was the owner observing the comings and goings of staff and customers alike. He recommended the wings and REAL chicken tenders with amazing homemade sauces. After a couple of local beers (my husband is a beer snob!) and soon we were getting the history of the pub and local area from John, the owner. It was all SO good. We travel to Charleston, WV several times a year to see family. This is now our guaranteed regular stop. Thank you, John and his great staff, for a fun night in a strange unfamiliar town. We'll be back again and again."

"This place is awesome with amazing people and atmosphere. My friend and I were on our way to Atlanta from Toronto and decided to have a stop in Morgantown for the night (hilarious). We got there pretty late and didn't have many places to choose from. It was a blessing that we chose Mountain Mama's and met Huey, the bartender. We had great conversations, the drinks were really good and served in an incredible timely manner. Then we met some college students and played a card game until the tavern closed. I'll never forget this night, it was one of our highlights on our trip down south. Thank you so much!"

"I was passing through Morgantown, WV on my way back to Ohio. I was getting hungry & wanted something to eat. I decided on Mountain Mama, which wasn't to hard to find. It is definitely a restaurant / bar that appears to be super popular. The outside dining area was packed for a Saturday night. Inside was pretty empty with the exception of the bar area. Our host greeted us with a warm simple and seated us quickly at a table. The seating options were table, hi top table, bar or outside. Our server came over and welcomed us. He took our drink orders & gave us menus. I did again notice how busy this place was, the bar area was full of patrons & a line had formed for the carry out orders. Our server returned with our drinks & took our food order, he thank us for our patience as they were busy tonight & they had a few people call off. Our meals were out in what I felt was an acceptable time. I had a large garden salad & chicken strips with fries. Both of my meal selections were just awesome! The chicken strips were crunchy & juicy, the fries were hot & Crisp. The salad was huge with the correct amount of salad dressing. To be honest the serving staff is what I was absolutely impressed with. They were short, but man did they hustle! They were so amazingly friendly and polite even though they so busy. That right there is why I will happily return to dine there again. So if you love great bar food, Mountain Mama is the place you simply must try."

"This is one of those hidden gems of a corner bar. First time there tonight for both my son and I. Great atmosphere, good service, excellent burgers. Beer (Halleck Pale Ale) was cold and fresh. Definitely will be back."

"Def the best wings around! I got the PB&J boneless and they had a great flavor and perfect bite. Everyone else enjoyed thier wings and they had a great selection of food and beer. Nice little dive!"

"Wings were amazing. Was able to split them up to try different flavors. The "couch burners" were good and hot, but didn't just have that sour buffalo flavor. The flavor was great and heat was there. Tried thier PB&J wings that were surprisingly good and another Carolina BBQ sauce style wing. Met the owner and he was super cool and down to earth. And last but not least.....the beer was COLD."
